Who we are

We are a group of educators and digital educators who are passionate about the affordances of digital storytelling in education and in particular in the context of further and higher education where we all work. Finding common interest in digital storytelling, we came together to share practice and to build the storytelling community clan, in the hope of finding and supporting the development of like-minded others and those who are interested and willing to explore this area further with us.

Digital Storytelling Durham was founded by Dr Teti Dragas and began as a means of showcasing the ways in which she had been using Digital Storytelling at Durham University and beyond as curriculum development and as a means of supporting student learning which you can explore on this site. She found a likeminded educator in the talented Dr Richard Beggs who has been developing similar work in the University of Ulster with curriculum development projects across a variety of areas as varied as the Educational Development of Staff and the HEA Fellowship route and hospitality students. Along with Chris Thomson (JISC), a keen and dexterous digital storytelling facilitator who led various workshops through JISC in the past, and Zac Gribble (JISC) who is into all things digital, we created a JISC mailing list and run various events to develop this work further. Digital Storytelling Durham site has afforded us a space in which to showcase this work and we invite you to explore this with us!
